Judge Tariq Al-Bitar, the judicial investigator into the Beirut port explosion crime, denied identifying any of the three hypotheses that might have led to the port explosion.
Judge Tariq Al-Bitar confirmed, in a press clarification, that there are three existing hypotheses about the cause of this accident, stressing that no hypothesis was excluded, and what was published on this matter is among the analyzes issued by some media outlets that broadcast this information.
A devastating explosion occurred inside Beirut seaport last August 4, when 2,750 tons of highly explosive ammonium nitrate, which had been stored in the port’s warehouses for 6 years, caught fire, which led to the destruction of a large part of the port, as well as killing about 200 people and injuring more. From 6 thousand others, the buildings and facilities of the capital were severely damaged by the force of the explosion, in a way that required declaring Beirut a disaster city.
And the National News Agency - the official Lebanese news agency - had previously quoted Al-Bitar as saying that the three hypotheses include either the possibility of an error in the welding process of Bab Al-Anbar No. 12 that led to the outbreak of the fire, then the explosion, or a deliberate security or terrorist act inside the port that caused Disaster, as for the third hypothesis, includes air targeting via a missile.
