Study: Bone marrow produces antibodies after recovering from corona that enhances immunity

Each person’s body reacts differently to the Corona virus and as it enters different body systems, more than half of the people recovering from it suffer from long-term symptoms of corona, such as digestive problems, fatigue or damage to vital organs, and according to a report of the time now news site, scientists found that people who Those who recover from mild coronavirus, their bone marrow cells produce antibodies for a long time.

The report, published in the scientific journal Nature, is based on the findings of researchers who identified long-lived antibody-producing cells in the bone marrow of people who have recovered from COVID-19.

The study provides evidence that the immunity caused by Corona infection will be unusually long-lasting, and Mino van Zelm, an immunologist at Monash University in Melbourne, Australia, said that the results are that vaccines will have the same lasting effect.

What are antibodies and what is the difference between them and plasma?

Antibodies are proteins that can recognize and help inactivate viral particles, a key immune defense after a new infection, and short-lived cells called plasma are an early source of antibodies, but the role of these cells ends soon after the virus is removed from the body, and these start Cells are in decline.

Plasma cells, also called plasma B cells, are white blood cells that originate in the bone marrow, and secrete large amounts of proteins called antibodies in response to the supply of certain substances called antigens.

Why is a mild corona infection less dangerous?

At first, scientists believed that corona infection would lead to the development of antibodies, and this is in line with the experience of other viral diseases, however, as research progressed, they saw signs that severe corona may disrupt the formation of antibodies.

But the continued production of antibodies, whether obtained through vaccination or through infection, does not guarantee long-term immunity to Covid 19, as researchers confirmed that new and emerging corona variants may be able to breach the protection provided by the production of these antibodies.
