"Russian Defense": summoning the military attache of the British Embassy in Moscow

Today, Wednesday, the Russian Ministry of Defense summoned the military attache of the British Embassy in Moscow, against the background of a British destroyer’s violation of Russian territorial waters in the Black Sea.

The ministry had announced that the Russian Black Sea Fleet had prevented a British destroyer from violating the maritime borders of the Russian state, as the Russian side had to fire warning shots to drive away the British destroyer.

She pointed out that the destroyer (Defender), operating in the northwestern part of the Black Sea, crossed the borders of the Russian state and entered the territorial waters near (Ras Violent) for a distance of 3 km. The destroyer had previously been warned against using weapons in case of violation of state borders, but it did not react to the warning.

For his part, a member of the International Committee of the Russian Federation Council (the upper house of parliament), Sergei Tsikov, described the entry of the British warship into Russian territorial waters as a flagrant violation of the rules of international law.
