Export Development: Venezuela requests the import of wheat, medicine and iron from Egypt


Minister Plenipotentiary Mamdouh Salman, Chairman of the Egyptian Export Development Authority, met at the headquarters of the Egyptian Export Development Authority with Wilmer Omar, Ambassador of Venezuela, accompanied by Minister Plenipotentiary Mr.Angel Jesus at the embassy.

 

This is within the framework of the strategy of the Ministry of Trade and Industry to develop Egyptian exports, open new markets for exports, and strengthen frameworks of bilateral cooperation in the economic and trade fields with the outside world.

 

According to the memorandum of the Export Development Authority, Minister of Industry and Trade Nevin Jameh, the meeting dealt with Venezuela’s desire to initially import 1,000 tons of Egyptian cotton, as well as the import of many Egyptian products such as iron, steel and medicines, as well as the desire to export Venezuelan products such as coffee, cocoa and cloth.

 

Minister Plenipotentiary Mamdouh Salman, head of the Egyptian Export Development Authority, told the Venezuelan ambassador, that it is possible to contract quantities with the required specifications for the next season, due to the end of contracts for this year's season, and this is what the Egyptian Cotton Federation has stated, and he noted that the Export Development Authority can arrange a meeting with the officials of the Egyptian Federation. Provide the authority with a statement of the products (quantity / value) that Venezuela wishes to import from Egypt.

 

The head of the Export Development Authority agreed with the Venezuelan ambassador on the proposals that would increase the volume of trade exchange between the two countries as follows:

 

- Putting forward the idea of ​​the possibility of establishing an Egyptian-Venezuelan joint business council to overcome obstacles to the movement of trade exchange and implement inter-procedures with the participation of the chambers of commerce in Egypt and Venezuela, and the Venezuelan ambassador commented that it would be presented to his country's government in this regard.

 

A proposal to sign a memorandum of understanding between the Egyptian Export Development Authority and the corresponding side in Venezuela, with the aim of exchanging commercial information, expertise and technical support between the two countries, while identifying points of contact from both sides for follow-up and implementation.

 

- Planning for joint events between the two countries in various fields (trade missions/international exhibitions/bilateral meetings/promotional tours) in a way that contributes to increasing the volume of intra-regional trade between the two countries.

 

Discussing the possibility of establishing a work system that would enable studies (products/services/investments) to be made available, and to set systems for exchanging commercial opportunities, bids, and economic decisions regulating interchange between the two countries.
