The Directorate of Internal Affairs in the Russian capital announced that about six thousand supporters of the Russian opposition Alexei Navalny participated in unauthorized protests today, Wednesday, in the center of the capital, Moscow.
Meanwhile, Russian media reported Navalny's supporters that the protests included several Russian cities, led by Moscow and Petersburg, and that about 15,000 demonstrators participated in the Russian capital alone.
On Monday, the Russian Interior Ministry called on citizens not to participate in unauthorized activities, stressing that destabilization and taking the necessary measures to maintain law and order.
The press spokesman for the Russian "Kremlin" presidency, Dmitry Peskov, also announced that the policing units are about to take measures in the event of illegal acts occurring on Wednesday. It is reported that a Moscow court sentenced Russian blogger and dissident Alexei Navalny to 3 and a half years in prison last February.
Navalny announced from his detention through his account on "Instagram" that he had gone on hunger strike, demanding that an independent doctor be allowed to communicate with him and visit him.
As a result, the Russian Federal Prisons Service announced that the Doctors Committee decided to transfer the Russian dissident Alexei Navalny from the prison in Pokrov, Vladimir region, to the hospital.
