Eating fruits and vegetables daily reduces death rates by 13%.

Diet is the main key to preventing diseases, enhancing the body’s immunity and its defensive tasks against various infections and bacteria, and thus helps reduce death rates and increase the average life span.

A new study issued by Harvard Medical School and published in the Circulation Journal revealed that eating adequate amounts of vegetables and fruits affects the life expectancy, given that they are full of fiber, vitamins, minerals and other nutrients.

The study said that you should eat a mixture of five portions of fruits and vegetables daily at least, which means eating 400 grams of fruits and vegetables daily, and it can reduce the risk of serious health problems, such as heart disease, stroke and some types of cancer.

The researchers found that getting two servings of fruit and three portions of vegetables daily reduced the risk of death in general, as it was found that those who consumed the optimal amount of vegetables and fruits reduced the risk of death from all causes by 13%, while death from diseases decreased. Heart and stroke by 12%, cancer decreased by 10%, and respiratory diseases decreased by 35%, compared to others.

The study identified some starchy vegetables that affect the life expectancy of people such as peas, corn and potatoes, and all are associated with a reduced risk of death.

Meals based on starchy foods rich in fiber such as potatoes, bread, rice or pasta are among the most important foods affecting your health, as well as eating some dairy products or their alternatives (such as soy drinks), and eating some legumes, legumes, fish, eggs, meat and other proteins.
