Cooperation between the National Authority for Governance and the Embassy of Denmark in fields related to sustainable development

Today, the National Institute for Governance and Sustainable Development, the training arm of the Ministry of Planning and Economic Development, signed a memorandum of understanding with the Embassy of the Kingdom of Denmark in the Arab Republic of Egypt on joint cooperation in areas related to governance, sustainable development, green transformation and policy dialogue.

 

In this context, Dr. Hala Al-Saeed, Minister of Planning and Economic Development and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the National Institute for Governance and Sustainable Development said that the cooperation between the institute and the Embassy of the Kingdom of Denmark in Egypt comes in light of Egypt's Vision 2030 and what it represents as a major milestone in the process of comprehensive development in Egypt and reforms in various fields. Where it connects the present with the future and adopts a clear development path for an advanced and prosperous nation dominated by economic and social justice, reviving the historical role of Egypt in regional leadership and strengthening its international relations and openness to broader horizons, pointing to the approach taken by the Institute of forming partnerships with relevant local and international institutions in order to be able to To expand his circle of expertise and benefit from prestigious scientific institutions that have made great strides in the fields of training, capacity building, education, research, and consulting.

 

On her part, Dr. Sharifa Sharif, Executive Director of the National Institute for Governance and Sustainable Development, affirmed that the development of the human factor is an integral part of the reform and construction process, explaining that because of the belief in the pivotal role assigned to state workers to implement these reforms and prepare for the subsequent consequences that affect the tasks entrusted to them. The presence of a strong entity that supports this system is a fundamental pillar in the process of change and in this framework comes the role of the Institute as it took upon itself the task of change and adopted a new approach to development and service provision, hoping to become a regional center for knowledge and to have an effective role in implementing national strategies, chiefly the strategy Sustainable Development: Egypt Vision 2030.

 

We are here to appreciate the long and distinguished relations between Egypt and Denmark as a major partner in development, and the institutes ’keenness to further strengthen the Egyptian-Danish relations as well as benefit from the best Danish practices in the field of good governance practices and the implementation of sustainable development goals, she added, adding that the cooperation agreement that we are witnessing today is Formalizing the strategic partnership with the Danish Embassy in Cairo to work together to achieve leadership and creativity in building and developing human capacities by providing training programs, policy dialogue workshops and conferences in the fields of sustainable development, good governance practices, and green transformation.

 

I look forward to working together through the successful implementation of the MoU as well as the continuation of our joint efforts to build a long-term strategic partnership between the two countries, she added. “The key to building partnerships, whether between social sectors or between countries, is a deep spirit of mutual commitment. A willingness to share work, share costs to share risks, share credit, and, ultimately, what will it take for a spirit of mutual trust.

 

With regard to the proposed areas of cooperation between the Institute and the Danish Embassy, ​​Sherif indicated that the joint cooperation is based on the implementation of some activities represented in developing human capabilities through holding training in some areas, including support for good governance, sustainable development, green transition, policy dialogue, in addition to organizing Workshops and seminars for stakeholders according to what is agreed upon between the two parties, as well as organizing conferences on sustainable development goals, good governance and best practices, in addition to facilitating the periodic exchange of visits between senior officials and specialists according to an annual plan agreed upon by the two parties, in addition to exchanging information For related activities that are organized by the two parties, which may be of mutual interest.

 

On his part, Sind Oling, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Denmark to the Arab Republic of Egypt, stressed that Denmark is keen to strengthen cooperation with Egypt in the field of sustainable development. He said that the partnership with the Institute for Governance and Sustainable Development will contribute to building cadres and organizing study visits, and then it will contribute to achieving the goals of the 2030 strategy.

 

The memorandum of understanding was signed by Dr. Sherifa Sherif, Executive Director of the National Institute for Governance and Sustainable Development, and Mr. Sind Oling, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Denmark to the Arab Republic of Egypt, in the presence of Mr. Nabil Fouad, Director General of Business Development and Human Resources at the Institute.
